The weekend of June 27-28 is the return of the KCK Street Blues Festival, at a new location this year. The festival will be held at 13th and State Avenue and admission is free. KCK residents Millage Gilbert, Blue 88, and Lonesome Hank will be performing, along with several other area and touring musicians. This year's Living History Tribute Show features Myra Taylor, who is the queen of the 2008 fest.
Stage performances will be from 6-10 pm on Friday night and 1-10 pm on Saturday. Lawnchairs and coolers are welcome and concessions will be available.

The Cass Co. Democratic Women's Club will host Kristi Kenney, candidate for 120th District State Representative for a Coffee at BJ's Diner in Archie, Saturday, June 28, from 7:30 to 9:00 am. We have scheduled a screening for BODY OF WAR here in KC at the Screenland next week.
This film by Phil Donahue and Ellen Spiro tells the story of Tomas Young, a soldier from KC who was paralyzed in Iraq in 2004 on his 5th day of duty.
Tomas has been battling complications and is currently hospitalized at St Luke's.
This will be the only chance to see the movie in KC before the DVD comes out.
The movie will be shown at the Screenland, 1656 Washington:

The July Wyandotte County Third Saturday Democratic Breakfast will meet this Saturday, July 19 at The Woodlands dog track, 9700 Leavenworth Road. The forum hosts Democratic candidates in contested August 5 primaries. Tri-County AFL-CIO President Donna Birks will also speak.
A buffet is available at 8:15 am and the program begins at 9:00. Cost for the buffet is ten dollars, which includes tax, service and tip; seven dollars for students and those with limited income.

Saturday, July 26 - Bus Trip to Nicodemus, Kansas
The Wyandotte County Democratic Black Caucus sponsors a bus trip to the Annual Homecoming Celebration in Nicodemus. Nicodemus was the first black settlement in Kansas.
