What the Charter means
Before a hotel joins our register, it must meet six clear requirements that decide whether your dog is truly welcome or just tolerated. All are public, so you know what to expect before you book.
The six requirements
Each is specific, checkable, and met by every hotel on the register.
Every hotel publishes its dog policy openly, so you can read it before you pay.
Fresh food and water bowls, the right size for your dog, waiting in your room.
Your dog can join you in a shared indoor space, where the law allows.
Any dog fee is shown clearly when you book, never sprung on you at check-in.
If a damage deposit applies, you'll know the exact amount before you book.
You'll know how many dogs are welcome in each room before you book.
The principle
Being allowed to stay is the floor, not the measure of a dog friendly hotel. A real welcome means what matters to you and your dog is spelled out and provided for: a policy you can read before booking, fees and deposit shown up front, and the same welcome every time, whoever is on the desk.
More direct bookings from dog owners, the seal that proves your welcome, and a place on the register travellers trust.

The Charter and the register are public. If a hotel falls short, any guest can report it, and hotels that do not measure up will be removed.
A non-profit organization representing the world's best dog friendly hotels.
