Coquillade Provence welcomes your dog the way it welcomes you, as part of the family. This hilltop hotel in the Luberon takes dogs of every size, with no weight limit and up to two in a room, for €25 a night and no deposit. Your dog can settle in the room while you are out, and the salon, the lobby and the restaurant terraces are all open to them, so meals outdoors are shared.
The signature is the K9 Sommelier, the kitchen's own dog menu, served in the room. A bed, water and food bowls, a plush bone and a box of treats are waiting on arrival, the Luberon Suites have a private pool for dogs, and in summer there is a doggy paddling pool for everyone else. Each season the hotel crowns The Best Dog in the Season, a photo contest held across the estate, and the winner's family wins a free night.
Walking is where Coquillade shines. The estate runs to 42 hectares of vines, woodland, lavender and olives, with a Paw Garden and its own forest trail, and the team will suggest routes or arrange a dog walker. For an evening out alone, staff will look after your dog, a local groomer can be booked, and the concierge keeps an emergency vet's number to hand.
Around it all is one of the loveliest corners of France: an 11th-century hamlet first built by Cistercian monks, now a Relais & Châteaux house with two Michelin Keys and its own winery. The hotel supports Miyou, the Gargas animal welfare charity, and has donated to 100 Toits, a rescue for abandoned dogs. For Provence with your dog, there is nowhere better.
The DFHA is a non-profit organization. We represent the world's best dog friendly hotels, the ones that genuinely welcome you and your dog, rather than merely tolerate them.
