Dog Friendly Review

InterContinental Miami is about as dog friendly as a luxury hotel gets, and it has the accolade to prove it: Newsweek ranked it the number one hotel in America for dogs. Every room welcomes dogs, so availability is never a question, and there is no weight limit at all, which means every breed and every size is genuinely welcome, from the smallest toy breed to the largest Great Dane.

The signature experience is Paws Patio, the hotel's weekly dog party on the Bayside Terrace every Wednesday evening, free and open to the public. Your dog gets a complimentary Pup Cup while you order from the Barktails menu at the bar, and local vendors line the terrace with treats, accessories and a real sense of occasion. It has been running for over five years and has become a genuine fixture of the Miami dog scene, building toward the annual Paws Patio Food Fest, an afternoon of vendors, photo opportunities and tail wags for hundreds of dogs and their people. Themed nights run right through the year, from the soccer Paws-Cup to a Howl-o-Ween costume party.

The care carries through the whole stay. The hotel's own dog park sits on the Bayside Terrace, billed as the best in the city, the team will point you to the finest routes through Brickell and along Biscayne Bay, and a dog bed, bowls, fresh dog food, a stash of treats and a custom hotel bandana are all there for the asking. The concierge can arrange dog sitting whenever you need to go somewhere your dog cannot follow. From arrival to checkout your dog is treated as a full member of the family, and few hotels anywhere make that as easy, or as much fun, as this one.
